The Zubizuri Bridge, also known as the Campo Volantin Bridge, is a pedestrian footbridge located in Bilbao, Spain. Designed by renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, the bridge spans the Nervión River and connects the Campo Volantin area with the Uribitarte neighborhood. It was opened to the public in 1997.
The bridge is notable for its unique, modern design, featuring a curved steel deck with glass panels and a suspension system that uses cables to support the structure. The deck is supported by a single pylon on one side of the river and a concrete pier on the other, giving it the appearance of a sailboat.
The Zubizuri Bridge has become a popular landmark in Bilbao and a popular spot for tourists to take photos. It is especially beautiful at night, when it is illuminated by a series of lights that change color.
